St. Louis, Missouri Native Lani Rose has released his debut EP 'Permanent Beta' through Terrible Records.
Throughout the whirling journey of the EP, Lani finds himself exploring the process of finding himself lost in the mass space of the world. Touching on themes of identity, heartbreak, fame, nostalgia and growing up.
The 5 track EP is Produced, Written and Sung by Myles Jelani Anderson. The intimacy of his experience is poured out over every track. Filled with reverb-ed guitars, pitched samples and vinyl noise, the EP is a kaleidoscope of Alternative music. A daze of psychedelic infused R&B, most prominent on the final track 'Love Forgets'.
The songwriting evokes an almost psychological yet philosophical outlook on heartbreak, dissecting thoughts and feelings down to a science.
Having released a string of singles, a bold cover of James Blake & Bon Iver's 'I need a forrest Fire' and collaborations with electronic artist's Laxcity and Tari in the past two years, it seems Rose has found his sound. An obvious comparison to Frank Ocean is understood, the softness in Lani's vocals mirrors that which is all over Ocean's Sophomore album 'Blonde'. But Lani's experience is totally unique to that of other artists, his storytelling ability proves just that. A guitar, harmonies and his hauntingly blissful vocals shine through on the track 'Colors We Made' , which builds into a wall of sound and nostalgia.
